Event: Reggae Genealogy

Venue: Island SPACE Caribbean Museum

Event Description:

Presented by Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, Reggae Genealogy is an annual multicultural experience that explores the dynamic origins, evolution and influence of Jamaican music.  In its inaugural staging, the Reggae Genealogy showcase traced popular Jamaican music from before the island’s independence from Britain in 1962 through to the present. Education, food, and entertainment melded as we revealed how  African elements, other non-Jamaican genres, the island’s socio-political environment, and technical innovations shaped the Caribbean’s most prolific and far-reaching musical form.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

As executive producer, Next Weekend Productions orchestrated and curated the entire concert experience. The scope of work encompassed securing vital funding and locations, negotiating rental agreements, formulating comprehensive production budgets, and overseeing the complete contractual process for performing artists. This role required close collaboration with artist management and vendors, meticulous crafting of production timelines, organizing strategic planning sessions, and spearheading an effective marketing campaign to enhance the production’s visibility. NWP orchestrated 72 performers, 107 volunteers and a1600+ audience  to experience Edu-tainment, musical concerts,  VIP sponsor circle,  restaurant row of food trucks, an  artisan village, and museum tours.
